Foon Lok at West Brooklyn Basin

Foon Lok at West Brooklyn Basin

Oakland, CA

Foon Lok East, meaning Joyous Community, is part of a master-planned community called Brooklyn Basin along Oakland’s waterfront. As part of the area’s final phase of affordable housing, Foon Lok East, offering 124 units, connects with Foon Lok West via a podium garage and operates as one property, offering rental units for low-income families and the formerly unhoused.

The building featured BŌK’s custom sunshades with a unique miter corner seam hugging the building corners in white to complement the color scheme. BŌK’s custom curved organic Juliet railing system (A04 pattern) wraps around the building for a distinctive and modern nod to the area.

Formerly an industrial site on 65 acres, Brooklyn Basin reconnects Oakland with its historic waterfront — offering scenic views from San Francisco to the East Bay hills with walkable open-air parks, local shops, and eateries.
