San Mateo, CA
The SPG project is clearly visible from the road during approach and contains a public, outdoor gathering space and a multi-family residential pavilion in the center of the complex.
Utilizing our previously proven system of staggering panels to support each other structurally (See Moscone Convention Center), BŌK Modern re-invented a standard frame supported pavilion to a floating trellis suspended by four columns, inspired by ship’s masts. This unique rod clevis suspension system not only drastically reduced the cost of the structure, but also resulted in a unified identity for the project.
